“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us”
- Gandalf
I acknowledge I am practicing on the traditional land of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish and Suquamish People past and present, and honor with gratitude the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe. In this acknowledgement, I name my own positionality as a white settler on unceded territory after the breaking of the Treaty of Point Elliott in 1855. In recognition of this positionality, I pay monthly Real Rent Duwamish.
A bit of my story
I am white, queer, neurodivergent, and nonbinary. Growing up, I struggled with feeling like I was an outsider. I didn’t feel like the other boys, but I didn’t feel like the girls either. I believed something must be wrong with me. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized I was queer and began to love who I am and what I bring to the world. Along the way, I have been supported and inspired by many other queer people in my life. Now, as a therapist, I am excited to give back as was done for me and support the healing journeys of queer, trans, non-binary, and 2SLGBTQIA+ folks.
I was socialized as a man and taught that vulnerability was a sign of weakness. I bottled emotions up and avoided confiding in other men. At one point, I joined a men’s group and experienced the joy and liberation of men coming together to lovingly support one another emotionally. I believe that men supporting one another in healing and growth is an amazing, radical thing and I care deeply about facilitating that with men in therapy.
As a therapist, I walk with you on your exploration of new meanings within, connecting to your parts, and nurturing change. Each person has their own intersecting constellation of identities and experiences, and I’m excited to get to know each person I work with.
Also, I am a huge geek! I love stories, movies, video games, walks, hikes, camping, and singing. If desired, I may give you a therapeutic video game or movie recommendation from time to time.
I am an associate clinical social worker and my license number is SC61446009. I am supervised by Stuart Brewster, LICSW, whose license is LW60686077.
People and Issues
I enjoy working with a variety of people and issues they are dealing with on their journey of growth and transformation. For identities and communities, I often work with people who fall into any of these identities: neurodivergent, non-monogamous, queer, trans and nonbinary, men, pagan/wicca/witch, geeks, and kinksters. However, this is by no mean exclusive, I enjoy working with people from all walks of life. When it comes to the issues people are dealing with, I am extra excited to work with people on: shame and guilt, trauma, nurturing agency and autonomy, identity exploration, gender socialization, struggles with societal norms and marginalization, and self esteem.
Experience and Trainings
I received my Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Washington. As part of my degree, I completed an internship as a peer counselor at a college neurodiversity support program. After I graduated, I worked in a community mental health agency for about a year where I provided therapy to adults of all ages and from a large variety of backgrounds and identities, many of which included LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and non-monogamous folks. I have taken these multi-day training programs post-graduation:
Motivational Interviewing, Basic and Advanced
Becoming a Neurodivergent-Affirming Clinician
Professional Ecotherapy Program, Level 1
I have also taken shorter trainings relating to Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and more.
